Membership to CAPSTRANS

Research students who meet the following criteria can join CAPSTRANS as student affiliates:

  • They must be enrolled in a Masters by Research or PhD;
  • Their supervisor must be a CAPSTRANS affiliate; and
  • Their research topic must fall within one of the CAPSTRANS research programs and geographical focus.

Students who are working on CAPSTRANS related topics but whose supervisor is not a CAPSTRANS member, may participate in CAPSTRANS related research activities as “Student Associates”. Only CAPSTRANS research students are entitled to access CAPSTRANS facilities and funding.

Facilities and Infrastructure

The provision of facilities and infrastructure to CAPSTRANS research students is the responsibility of the faculties in which they are enrolled. CAPSTRANS research students can reasonably expect the faculty to provide shared access to computers, printers and office space. Faculties may also provide limited access to photocopying, stationery and other materials. CAPSTRANS does not provide access to facilities and infrastructure to its affiliated students. Research Funding

CAPSTRANS provides a limited amount of funding to support the research activities of its affiliated research students. No funding is available to “Student Associates” (see above).

Research Training Activities

CAPSTRANS provides a range of research training activities for its research students and associates. These include workshops, seminar programs, student colloquia, and publishing opportunities.
