2008 Conferences and Workshops

Writing the Pacific: Postgraduate Workshop in Pacific Studies - Monday November 17 and Tuesday November 18

10-12 postgrads working across a range of disciplines will be invited to submit thesis chapters or papers. These will be circulated and workshopped under the leadership of a team of experienced supervisors/scholars from several key disciplines in Pacific Studies. Discussions will also focus on working in a
multi-disciplinary formation such as Pacific Studies. The aim is to fine tune writing and methodological skills and think about wider disciplinary considerations of regional studies formations.

Dr Teresia Teaiwa will talk about her experiences developing Pacific Studies at the Victoria University of Wellington. The panel of advisors will also comprise Prof Stewart Firth (ANU), A/Prof Paul Sharrad (UoW), Dr Max Qanchi (QUT), Dr Helen Lee (LaTrobe) and A/Prof Kate Hannan (UoW).

Travel and accommodation will be provided for successful applicants. The workshop is funded through grants from CAPSTRANS and the ARC-funded Asia Pacific Futures Research Network. Interested postgraduates should check the APFRN website in the near future.
