Current Visiting Fellows 

Dr. Kabita Chakraborty

Dr. Kabita Chakraborty is a Postdoctoral Writing Fellow (September 2008-February 2009). During her time at CAPSTRANS she will be working on publications drawn from her PhD thesis, “Living Nach Baliye: Risk, Individualisation and Bollywood Culture in the Everyday Lives of Girls in the Bustees of Kolkata, India” (UQ 2008). Her research interests include participatory methodologies, youth identity, and South Asian popular culture.

Dr Koo Yew Lie

Dr Koo joined us as a Senior Visiting Fellowship in February 2008. Dr Koo is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, National University of Malaysia. During her time in CAPSTRANS, Dr Koo presented a paper as part of the International students in the Asia Pacific: mobility, migration, well being and security Conference (13-15 Feb, 2008) and gave a paper in the Faculty of Education on “Narrative Inquiry: breathing life into text, talk and the visual” 

Dr K.Thiruchelvam

Dr K.Thiruchelvam from the Department of Science and Technology Studies, University of Malaya, in Malaysia. Joining CAPSTRANS until November 2008 to work on policy studies related to science, technology and innovation management. During his time in CAPSTRANS, Thiru will explore how innovation systems are being handled in Australia.

Dr Rosemary Wiss

Dr Wiss is a Postdoctoral Writing Fellow (April - November 2008). Dr Wiss is working on a series of publications related to her PhD thesis "Tryst Troppo: sex, tourism, relationships (Puerto Galera, the Philippines)".
