Current Research Projects

• Why do international literacy rankings count? An analysis of international literacy and numeracy testing. Peter Kell. & Mohan Chinnappan
  This project explores the nature of international literacy and numeracy testing. The research is documenting the development of PISA and TIMSS and its application in the Asia Pacific.
• International literacy indices Ambigapathy Pandian (USM), Peter Kell & Marilyn Kell (UWS)
  This joint project with the Universiti of Sains Malaysia (USM) and the University of Western Sydney explores questions about international literacy testing in Malaysia.
• Welcome to Wollongong for International Students (W2W) Gillian  Vogl and Peter Kell
  This is a community based research project designed to recognize the contribution of international students to the Illawarra. The project involved a civic welcome, a mini-festival and a community website ww.w2w.uow.edu.au. The project is part of a broader project on global student mobility.
• Australian volunteers abroad in communities in the Asia Pacific Peter Kell, Tim Scrase, Ruchira  Ganguly-Scrase (UoW) &  Roger O’Hallaron, PALMS Australia.
  This is an ARC linkage with PALMS Australia, a volunteer sending agency. The research explores questions about the preparation of volunteers for community development placements in the Asia Pacific.
