Research program: Globalisation and International Development

This ARC-funded project examines the social and cultural impact of globalisation in India. In particular it considers the trajectory of modernity engendered by the process of globalisation. Based on fieldwork carried among lower middle class households in West Bengal, the authors are currently completing a co-authored book with Tim Scrase titled, The Snake and the Curse: Globalisation, Structural Adjustment and the Lower Middle Classes in India.
