Welcome to CAPSTRANS

The Centre for Asia Pacific Social Transformation Studies (CAPSTRANS) is an Australian Research Council Key Centre for Teaching and Research and a Research strength of the University of Wollongong. Our staff and students conduct innovative research into social transformation processes in the Asia-Pacific by combining methods from a variety of disciplines, including political science, economics, law, sociology, anthropology, media studies, social history and language and literature studies. Our research examines the impact that national and international development processes have had at local, regional and transnational levels in East and Southeast Asia, South Asia, the Pacific islands, and the APEC economies.
